  • The organ of sight. It is a three layered spherical structure specialized for receiving and responding to light. The outer fibrous coat consist of the sclera and transperient cornea. The middle vascular layer comprises the chorold, cilliary body and iris. Inner sensory layer is Retina.

    SCLERA

    The white fibrows outer layer of the eye ball. At the infront of the eye it become cornea. The scleara is covered by thin layer called conjunctiva. Conjunctiva Runs the edges of the cornea and also coveres the eye lids.

    CHOROID

    The layer of the eye ball between retina and sclera. It contains blood vessels and a pigments that absorbs excess of lights. so prevents bluring of vision.

    RETINA

    Light sensitive layar. That lines interior of the eye. Outer part is choroid, Inner part is cavity of eye ball. Contains rods and cones associated nerve fibres.

    A large number of cones is concentrated in a depression in the Retina of the back of the eyes ball called fovea.

    IRIS

    Part of eye regulate amounts of light that enters. It forms a coloured muscular diaphram across the front of the lens.

    PUPIL

    Circular opening in the centre of iris. Light passing in to lens of eye through pupil.

    LENS

    Transparents crystaline structure behind pupil. It enclosed in a thin transparent capsule.

    CORNEA

    Transparent circular part of the front of the eye ball. It Refracting the light in to the lens. The lens is focused in to the Retina.

    SOME COMMON DISEASES OF EYE

    CONJUCTIVITIS

    Inflammation in conjunctivas, small blood vessels and eye become pinkish and reddish.

    It is commonly caused by allergy of pollen, house dust, Reaction to chemical irritants like factory fumes, tobaco, smoke or swimming in excessive chlorine added water.

    It can be caused by bacteria and virus.

    Red itchy burning eyes with watering inflammaton over inner eye lids is main feature. Sticky discharge also occur. In bacteria discharge like pus and in case of virus it is like watery.

    CATARACT

    Initially the patient complains of bluring of vision in the early stages of the disease. Later complete vision affected.
